Welcome to our Class Blog!

Guess what? Today I am going to teach you how to use a class blog. What is a blog? How are they used? Why should we use them? We will talk about this and then you will create your own user name and password.

In the weeks to come, I will be posting blogs to help you with your classwork. For example, I might post multiplication and division games. This will help you to practice these skills. Then, I might ask you to reply by posting a comment. This will be cool because your classmates will be able to see what you have learned and, in turn, you might be able to learn something from one of your classmates. Isn't that cool? I think it is!

With this in mind, here is your first assignment. Tell me what you think about our class blog. Do you think this will be a fun assignment or a boring one? Be sure to tell me WHY and use GOOD reasons - persuasive ones. Remember when we wrote our letter to Santa and we had to persuade him to bring us the toys that we wanted for Christmas? That is persuasive!

If you need some help remembering what persuasive reasons are, here are some resources to check out.
PBS Kids - Don't Buy It - This site tells how advertising persuades us to buy things.
Writing to Persuade Rubric - This is a great rubric to help you evaluate your persuasive writing.
Why Students Should Eat Breakfast Everyday - This is a persuasive essay on why you should eat breakfast each day.
